The Robins & Hodgsons Story
Robins & Hodgsons is an amalgamation of two of Macclesfield's oldest electrical retailers, C.J. Robins & Hodgsons Ltd.
Chris Robins founded C.J. Robins in the 1960’s.
By 1969 Chris had opened his store on Park Lane
specialising in aerial installations and eventually
selling TV’s & Video recorders.
In 1998 Chris sold the business to Paul Dulson
who had worked for Chris for over 15 years.
At the turn of the century the industry changed
with the arrival of Digital broadcasting and flat
panel televisions.
Paul made sure C.J. Robins stayed at the forefront whilst also making sure that they maintained the same level of customer service Chris was famous for.
Thomas Hodgson established Hodgsons Radio & TV Ltd in 1926. Thomas manufactured his own radios and sold them in his shop on Market Place in Macclesfield.
In the early 1970’s Hodgsons opened their new store on Chestergate trading in TV’s, radios, washing machines & fridges amongst other electrical items.
By 1998 Hodgsons had outgrown their Chestergate home and moved to larger premises on Great King Street where Warren Hodgson, Ian Peat and their staff continued with the traditions employed by Thomas Hodgson many years ago.
In April 2008, Paul Dulson completed the takeover of Hodgsons and relocated the C.J. Robins business to Hodgsons existing showroom on Great King Street.
The joining of the two companies enabled different products to be supplied to the customers that were not available whilst both companies were operating separately.
